New Publication: Implantable Optics for Advanced In Vivo Imaging

We’re thrilled to share a major milestone from the In2Sight project! A new open-access article has just been published in the Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE), showcasing a cutting-edge protocol for fabricating implantable imaging devices designed to revolutionize in vivo microscopy. The video presenation explore the various stages of the development of the In2Sight technioclogy.

Title: Microfabrication of Implantable Optics Integrated in a Microstructured Imaging Window for Advanced In Vivo Imaging. DOI: 10.3791/67975

Authors: Alessandra Nardini, Behjat Sadat Kariman,Claudio Conci, Marco Grassi, and collaborators from Politecnico di Milano’s Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering “Giulio Natta” and Mario Marini, Giuseppe Chirico and collaborators from the University of Milano-Bicocca, Milano.

What is this about? This publication presents a streamlined protocol based on two-photon polymerization (2PP) for creating a novel microstructured imaging window. The device integrates microlenses and micro-scaffolds tailored for non-linear excitation microscopy, enabling precise quantification of immune responses in animal models. It’s a powerful tool for biomaterials research and drug testing, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in live tissue imaging.

Why it matters for In2Sight?

The In2Sight project is committed to developing innovative tools for real-time, high-resolution imaging of biological processes. This work exemplifies our mission—merging microfabrication, optics, and biomedical engineering to unlock new insights into immune dynamics and tissue-material interactions.

Stay tuned for more updates on our channels, as we continue to advance the frontiers of in vivo imaging!
